Thanks for all the info., job well done.I was with C Co. at Ft. Irwin a went over on the Pope to Vuntau. I was there 'til May,'68. I worked on the big concrete pour and was there when Dave Leatherbury was killed. I remember the break wagon came up just before it happened or there would have been a lot more killed or injured. I also worked at the quarry operating a frontloader and moved the steel for building the big tanks at the big pour. Again thanks for a great site, it brings back a lot of memories, tome

HHC 36th engineer battalion, Radio Operator. Myself and a Sgt. were the first two guys to arrive at Fort Irwin when the battalion was re-started. By the time we got to Vung Tau I was 4 months short and got out Dec. 67. Keep up the good work guys.

I was stationed at Vinh Long with MACV they had a small compound down from
the main gate. I stayed on the airfield with some 7/1 Cav people. I was there
Dec69 to Dec70. Do you remember the mortar attack, the ammo dump explosion,
and the spraying of chemicals on the perimeter and oil on the dirt roads? Do you
remember the cook who went beserk and shot up thru the 292nd hooch floor. The
tear gas incidents two of them, a fragging, the stabbing of a SGT, the accidental
shooting of a 114th soldier by a drunk SFC? A suicide on the perimeter and pulling
guard duty no matter what unit one was in. If you remember anything abput these
events or others please email me.
