Working as a civilian at Thule satellite ops. Served 72-73 Sembach, 73-75 Wiesbaden, 75-77 Pruem, all in 601TCS. Enjoyed Pruem more than any other assignment in 12 years. Been at Thule , on and off, since 85. Lots of fond memories, some pretty hazy. Carefree days!

As a professional German genealogist & son of a 601st veteran, I seek anecdotes (good or bad) about my deceased father, William Burton Sala, then a radio mechanic 1-2-striper. Interestingly, he would later retire as NCOIC @ NATO'S DISCO HIT (the hole-in-the-side-of-a-mountain) near Izmir, Turkey, where I graduated high school in '72.
He went on to live & die in Jan 1996 in Kassel.
PHOTOS: I have some Rothwesten people photos: one has Dad singing with "Warwzaniak, Henderson & Smith," (& 1 guy unnamed) June 1952 [2 guys are playing an A7 chord on their guitars]; another shows "Rothwesten Radio Maintenance Crew" of 6 guys; another: "Radio Mechanics of 601st AC&W Sq. May 1952" [31 guys kneeling or standing in front of trucks & equipment]

Dear Veterans of the Rothwesten Military Base,
I am trying to locate my grandfather Robert Paulson who was stationed in Rothwesten around 1949.
I think he came from Jacksonville in Illinois and must be born around 1925-1930.
If you can help me to locate him or know someone who might have known him, I am very thankful.
Sincerely,
David Schöne
