Dear Friends of 601st Rothwesten!!!
Richard Road asked for help in identifying people in 2d photo on Page 12 of "Old Friends". The guy holding the little girl in the photo is Bill Slamin who's from Mass. and is my father. The lady lower left is my german mother, Margaretha. They had married soon after this picture was taken. I was born in the States and they soon seperated. She lives in Salou, Spain. I return to Kassel quite often where I was raised since my mother returned there after her seperation with my father. My german half-brother still lives in the area. I am returning X-mas 2004 for some more revisitation of "good old times"

Was surprised to stumble across 601 AC&W Site. Was on Wasserkuppe 1953-55. worked in the D/F unit where I think the C/S was Angelo 1. also spent time at Gunpost radio where RTTY was available. Worked for Sgts Wall and Murphy. I remember guiding a L-5 into the Kuppe with D/F. Was delighted when the pilot who was the communications officer landed near the Gasthouse opposite the gate and commended me for my radio procedure

It was refreshing to see scenes from the land of old adventures. I was stationed with the 7811 AU/Signal Office in Fulda in 54-56 and we used to go up to the AFB on Sundays to have a good dinner(not the Sunday C rations from the 14th ACR) I have many 35mm slides of the Wasserkuppe.

I'd be interested in hearing about the 601st's stint at Pforzheim, Germany between July 1955 and July 1956. One of our units the 12th Radio Relay Squadron took the site over five months after the 601st left. From the history blurb on your site it appears the 601st Headquarters relocated there from Rotwestern in 55. Anyone remember it? If so how about some details? Anyone got pictures of the Air Station in 55 or 56?
