Hello all,
Outstanding web site, brought back a whale of good memmories from Rothwesten 1971. Worked as a clerk in the gym, mail, S-4, HHC all in that short 9 mos. in '71. Anyone remember me out there? anyone know where my old NCOIC SSgt Masakane ended up? Old Big Harry! what a great guy. I used to live above the gym and that was great. We had some great basketball games in that nice old gym. The Rod & Gun club was across the street and that was a nice place to have a brew or two...
Went back to Western Europe last Spring. It was great even though the dollar is worthless now. Went down to Augsburg to see the old Sheridan kaserne which is still there, but will be torn down shortly they say.
Anyway, ASA All the Way! The top 10% of the Army and they were not kidding. Just wish i had not flunked out of my Ft. Devens school and been able to work in operations. That would have been great for me. The best to any of you old birds out there and don't forget the outstanding service we all gave to this great country of ours, the good old USA. Joe

Got to Rothwesten around Jan. 1952 as DF operator at Gunpost. Roomed with Jack Niles until he rotated and then took over as Transmitter editor and Info Svs. Departed in 1955, but after about 10 months, was returned to same desk where I stayed for a few more years, with Ernie Weatherwall. Now, I live in Nurnberg. Would welcome a chance to meet or email others who were there then. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year,
Dr.Robert Szarvas

Stationed at det 100, Celle from 1962 - 1966. Visit my url, click on German Tour to read all about my stay at Celle. The exchange rate was 4 - 1, and it was a great time to see Europe.

Wondersful site! I was stationed at Det 5: 65-66 in Bamberg & 67-68 in Bad Kreuznach. My wife is from Bamberg (Baunach) & we periodically go back and have her relatives over. While Bad Kreuznach was nice, I believe the early days in Bamberg can never be replicated.
