Wow. My career started right here in Welch @ WELC. Coming from Baltimore, Md or "the big city" (as you all loved to say) to Welch wasn't easy but it was the people of Welch, West..By God/Smile When You Say It..Virginia who made that transition not only an easy one and a pleasant one but a memorable one as well. I remember my days there fondly, with many, many, many wonderful memories. Iaeger High School Football & Basketball. The I.G.A. with their great daily dinner specials. The "I'm Free" manufacturing Co. store and their :20 sec commercials. The Brothers Club Dances on Friday nights at the old Memorial Building on the hill where I tended to stand out (lol) yet be very welcomed!! But most of all ...genuine, friendly people and the Sidote Family who made my stay from Sept 4th, 1978 - November 4th, 1979 an irreplaceable memory that I'll cherish until my dying day! Please know that I look back on this station, this town and all the people I met with the greatest fondness and heartfelt gratitude.

I remember the kindness of WELC when my wife Gospel Recording Artist JUANITA MULLINS came there to promote her newly released records on sell at the downtown record Dept. WELC in 1960 1961 ect gave her fine interviews. Now, we are retired (I still pastor a church in the city of Ashtabula, Ohio) and Juanita stills sings. Total hips replacements, age and other health issues slowed her but she is still going for God. Thanks WELC
