Reading about Ponary forest and the ghettos in Vilnius I am shocked. I had not idea about the victimization and murder of the Lithuanian Jews. I visited Vilnius last summer and never heard a mention of this, of the memorials, or locaton of the Jewish ghetto. My grandparents emigrated from Lithuania in the early 1900's. i learned of these events while reading Thanks to My Mother by Schoschana Rabinovici a Lithuanian Jew, concentration camp survivor, now living in Israel. I will continue to check your website.

My mother, Dina Shyllit (born Tontak) was from Vilna and is looking for anyone who is still alive and would like to contact her . My mother's older sister's name was Betty Wilkimirski , also , a sister Esther Tontak. My mother believes that they both perished in a concentration camp. Also, my mother had a sister in Buenos Aires, ARgentina, South America. Her name was Pauline Zlotkowitch . My mother stayed in an orphanage in Vilna (very religious, only girls) and she also attended an all girls religious school named Esther Rubenstein School. My grandparents on my Mother's side came from Vilna around 1912. My great grandparents and other family members perished. My mother tells me how one day the letters stopped coming. I would like to learn more about her family. The name was Meltzer
