Hello: I am Stewart Cherlin, my Dad was born in Vilna in 1906. During WWI / the Russian Revolution he was sent to Kovno, a safer place at the time. He told stories about adventures in the woods during his travels. This was of course years prior to the Ponar massacres. He immigrated to America in 1922 serving in the US Army from 1924-1951. His, father Abram stayed in Vilna holding a position in the local government. I'm very moved by the story of Ponar. My grandfather was probably among the victims. After so many years the sadness is felt. Ponar was One Day in the brutal events that repeated day by day through the Holocaust. May we know no more suffering. Stewart Cherlin Chicago

I lived in Vilnius for 23 years and now I reside in US. I don't think we can simply blame Germans for being cruel. Without help of local "assistance" no Holocaust would ever happen. Anti-Semitism is the root-cause of all the troubles.
