My daughter Lyn Pilowsky drew my attention to the Noar homepage. My late wife Marlene(Marl) was, as you lknow, Harry Noar's younger daughter by his first wife Sadie Sonnensher. She died in 1998,of cancer after a 5 year brave struggle, which was typical of her. In her teens in Cape Town South Africa she was a well known competitive swimmer and held the Western Province breast stroke championship for many years. At one stage she held third place in South Africa. After leaving school she worked as a secretary for some years before becoming a nurse (unusual for a Jewish girl in those times: early 50's).We married in 1956 and after my graduation in 1957 we spent 7 years in Sheffield UK where I trained as a psychiatrist. We then relocated to Sydney for 5 years, then to Adelaide for 25 years and then to Sydney in 1998. In Adelaide, Marl did a BA degree at Adelaide U, majoring in Anthropology. Then she did marriege counselling for some years and also taught communication skills to Occupational Health Nurses; all with great success. We had four children (Paul 41;Lyn and Kathryn twins 39 and Marion 37). They are all married. Paul lives in Sydney,Married to Eva Kuiper, a medically qualified hospital administrator; he is a senior medical researcher and has two daughters: Julia 18 and Rachel 16. Lyn is a consultant Psychiatrist and researcher at the Institute of Psychiatry in London. She has a daughter Judith (two and a half). Kathryn is a dentist in Harrow,London with a daughter, Amy aged 7. Marion is married, with a son Joseph aged 7, and lives in London. She is Head of aquisitions and developement for United International Pictures (UIP).
One year ago I remarried to Sandra Lee Braude, a widow, who I first met briefly in Johannesburg in 1954.She is a writer of books for children and edited a South African literary journal for women's writing. We now live in Sydney Australia to which I retired in 1998 after 25 years as Professor and Chairman of the Dept of Psychiatry at the University of Adelaide. Now I am a visiting Professor of Psychiatry to the University of Sydney where I do a weekly clinical teaching sessions.
I regret that Marl never saw this web-site because she was so interested in her antecedents. We did locate the Circus Minories in London where her Father Harry's birth certificate indicated he was born.

I got to your homepage after reading the story of the liquidation of the Vilna Ghetto. It was very moving, even having been there and having known everything. Congratulations on providing this important information for everyone to read and NEVER FORGET!
