I love your website! My father, Earl Roger Noar, directed me to it when I was interested in my family history. I learned alot! This website is better than any history textbook or book I ever read!

Last summer ('05) I visited Vilnius during an Esperanto conference. Through persistance and diligence, I visited Paneriai. An incredibly moving experience. Lithuanians I met seem to be in denial and would rather forget all about it. The genocide museum in town speaks of the Armenians and others but not of the liquidation of one of the greatest centers of Jewish learning in Europe. The Jewish museum in Vilnius is hard to find and was always closed when I tried to see it. I've been told that it is an excellent museum. I've enjoyed your website.

When I first encountered the noar name I was told by an interperter at the Israeli Counselate that "Noar means 'The Light' in Hebrew." The Arabic version "Noor" is the same.
"Pays yer money, takes yer choice!"
Very interseting site. Thanks.

My family name Wilner is derived from the city of "Vilna" lithuania.
It was told to me by my paternal grandmother Jeannette "Jean" Wilner, born in New York City around 1912, that all the Wilners are related from Vilna.
