I gave birth to Mikayla on July 12 2004,at 34 weeks 3 days gestation. My waters broke three days earlier, for reasons still unknown. She was 4 lbs 12 oz,18 inches long, with mature lungs. Now,almost 6 months, she is 13 lbs,and 24 inches. Still an impossible feeder, but perfect in every other way. We spent 10 days in the SCN,mostly due to slow wieght gain. Would love to have contact with anyone who has a similar story.

My son was born 14 weeks early. He stayed in the NICU for 109 days and then finally got to come home. He is now home he is just on the apnea monitor for now but is going for a sleep test in March to see if he can come off the monitor. I am blessed that he has not major problems. He is now 6 months old from when he was born but should only be 3 months old and weigh 13lbs 2 oz.

My son was born at 34 weeks, because i was developing preeclampsia and he was not growing, so my doctor requested for me to deliver by c-section, because of my hypertension, it reached to 210/112, she said it was to dangerous to have a normal delivery, my dream of giving birth,an i couldn;t, it brought back memories of my first daughter, she was born at 32 weeks because of the same reasons, she was born 3pds 5oz and 16 ichs long, he was born at 3pds 11oz and was 18 1/2 inchs, she had brithing problems and had a respirator hooked on, he was just fine just under weight, she came home 1 month after, he came home 1 week later, she is a happy 10 yr old doing great, he is only 3 months adjusted age she was born january 19.1995, and he was born september 11,2004. a very happy and proud mom of two preemies.

I have a preemie that is now 14 months old. He has a tracheostomy in and is still on oxygen. We have had a hard road to go down and we are still looking at even more hard times to come. He is fine mentally but is having problems with his throat. Alot of it is the hospitals fault but we are all strong and we will make it. I know God has big plans for my little boy Garry.

I forgot to mention another problem that we have with Dmytri is Croup. He gets this about 3 - 4 four times per year and gets very scarey. We have taken him to Emerg and has had to have a mask or an injection at times.
The doctors say that he will eventually outgrow this, probably when he is around five or so. I am told that this is due to his prematurity.
He does see a Pediatrician yearly, sometimes twice a year and will be followed-up on until he is in Grade 1-2.
