Hannah was born at 29 weeks and 6 days gestation weighing only 2lb (920g)after suffering from severe early onset IUGR. She was breathing on her own at birth and only required 24 hours of CPAP as a precaution in case she got tired! After 6 weeks in the SCBU with no further medical intervention, apart from her NGT, she came home at 3lb 8oz very tiny but all she needed to do was grow !!
She's now 16 months old, still very petite at only 17lb 9oz but she's walking, talking and getting into all kinds of trouble - she truly is our little miracle !

Hi Everyone,I went into Labour at 20 weeks and held on to 24 weeks. I have a beautiful daughter who is now 4. She was born 485 grams and spent 180 days in hospital. She is now a healthy happy girl. The only problem she has is her concentration but that will improve with age. I am writing to say even the smallest can grow into normal healthy children and to give you hope. Be positive and give lots of love.

My son, who is now 15, was born at 28 weeks and spent 101 days in the NICU in Tacoma, Washington. He is doing well despite his BPD which left him with 21% lower lung function. I am just thrilled to find this site and would love to talk with other parents of preemie-teens. We are struggling with some "information processing" issues that doctors and schools can't seem to understand and before now I have felt so alone because I do not know of any other preemie-teens. Please e-mail me especially if you have a teenage boy who had a very low birth weight.

Last October I lost my first daughter due to prematurity. I have incompetent cervix and it was discovered late in my pregnancy. My daughter Ava was born at 24 wks and 1 day at 1lb 9 oz. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU and then developed sepsis, which took over her tiny body. She passed away Oct 3rd, 2003. I am not pregnant with my second girl and am 29 weeks and 2 days. I am praying to make it to at least Christmas. I had a cerclage placed at 13 weeks and have been on bedrest ever since. I read all the stories and it has given me some hope that my baby will make it if I happen to deliver this one early also. If anyone has incompetent cervix or has some words of wisdom for me please feel free to e-mail me.

Hi! My name is Kendria James and I have previously had a premature son weighing 1lb. 5ozs. at a 24 week gestation period;he is currently weighing 1lb. 9ozs. I am just getting started with going through all the ups and downs of having a preemie and it's really hard. The only thing that holds me together is family and prayer. Things will get worse before they get better, but never give up and keep your faith in God through him the power of prayer can and will work unbelieveable changes.
