hi everybody, i have spent the last few hours randomly reading different pages of the guest book...simply amazing are the miracle stories of all our incredible preemie babies...in my case, i was 45yrs old & suspected meno pause was the reason for my flu like symptoms that i couldnt seem to shake, much to my surprise & astonishment the doctor said i was pregnant...25 yrs earlier i had delivered a son full term but complicated delivery due to pre-eclampsia...he died at age 4 after being diagnosed with acute lymphocitic leukemia at age 2...they said chances of me being pre-eclamptic in a second pregnancy were about nil to none...at 28 weeks i went to the 'er' with flu symptoms so grave i was fearful for the saftey of my unborn child...once again, i was pre-eclamptic and hypertensive...the environment in my womb was about to turn hostile & my life was endangered by my blood pressure not being able to be brought under control...so, 3 months early my daughter "jazmin pye" was brought into this world weighing only 1lb 8oz & 12" long...i was told as soon as my baby was delivered by c-section my blood pressure dropped & leveled...both of us would survive...there were many complications during the next 98 days spent in NICU, including 5 eye surgeries that left 'jazmin pye'legally blind but able to see lights, colors & some mass...another operation for CDH..#1 brain bleed, respritory things but on her release she came home on only 2 medications, no machines...all was well until at 8 months old she began to have infantile seizures that left her developmentally challenged...there were months she couldnt keep down solid food but her own determination & will to live conquered that milestone, too...today she is almost 4 yrs old...although she doesnt talk or i should say she hasnt mastered speach, she has no muscle tone & still is fighting to walk, and the docs say she will...her personality is certainly well developed and she has taught me much more than i could ever hope to teach her...i am the one that gave her birth, she is the one that has given me life and GOD contiunues to guide us on the path he has chosen for us...INHISLOVE...GOD bless you all...we are all a part of HIS plan, of this i am sure...x0x0x0x0

Hi, I am mum to Jacob born at 25 weeks gestation and weighing 1 pound and 11 ounces. Jacob spent 6 months in various NICU's and PICU's and suffered a bilateral grade III IVH, NEC, sepsis x 3, chronic lung disease requiring him to be on ventilators for 3 months. He came home aged 6 months and is now 15 months and still on oxygen. He has some developmental delays and isnt sitting yes, altho he did just learn to roll! I feel very lucky that jacob made it this far, a year ago we were planning his funeral.

My son was born at 28 weeks on 7/24/04. He was 3 pounds 1 ounceand 16 incehes long. He is now at his due date and weighs 9 pounds 1 ounce. He was never on oxygen and is home now doing well. I would love to hear from other parents with similar situations about development during infancy and toddler years.

My husband and I are proud parents of our son OSCAR, he was born at 25 weeks and weighed in at 1 pound 9 ozs. He spent 90 days or 3 months in the NICU. We brought our little angel home on Aug 6th of 2004. When he came home he weighed 5lbs he now weighs 11 lbs!!!!! Oscar has BPD and is on oxygen but we are so blessed!!!! Oscar only had a stage 2 of ROP and this has almost resolved itself. Everyday we see our son we feel like we won the lottery. Oscar is such a little fighter and we are so blessed. Mom and Dad loves you very much Oscar!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our daughter Eireanne was born on Aug.12,2004 at 27 weeks and weighed 2lbs. She never had to be on a ventilator and was taken of the nasal cannula on the 22nd of Sept. She has graduated from the NICU and now on a special ward for preemies which is the final step of 3 here in Germany before she gets to go home. She is now learning to drink from a bottle. we drive 80 miles round trip to see her everyday (we are in the U.S. military) and everyday see something new or some change in her she is more beautiful then I ever imagined. So all you parents of preemies hang in there and never give up hope. while the journey may be harder then you ever imagined cling to each other the tiny rewards along the way are SO worth it.
