my son was born at 26 weeks 1 lb. 15 oz. and had a rocky start but after 2 mo. in the hospitalcame home with an apnea monitor only and needed it for about a month.he is 15 mo. now and no major health concerns. my only concern is that he isn't crawling yet. he is just starting to roll over good he has theropy and im sure he will learn sooner or later i just would like to know if any one elses child had a slow start at crawling? it would just be comforting to know im not doing anything wrong. he had a grade 3 hemorage at birth but didnt need a shunt and he is talking on time and everything his left arm and leg are just weak mostly his arm.well anyway im not complaning i know he is a gift from God.

I was in the process of moving from my house and closing my business in Maryland to move home to Massachusetts with family when I went into preterm labor at 27weeks. My first baby. I was leaking fluid and knew I passed my plug. It was 4 am in the morning and I drove myself to the ER. I was put on best rest...I was three centimeters and my water was bulging. Magnesium sulfate stopped the contractions for a week before Lily was born at 2 pounds 4 ounces. She had no major complications in the NICU. A minor virus was all. She spent 9 weeks in the NICU before I could take her home. She weighed 4pounds 11 ounces when she came home with me. She never needed a transfusion and I pumped breast milk religiously for her every three hours. I rented the best pump I could. I visited with her at least twice a day, sometimes more. I always parked on the top floor of the parking garage at the hospital to help me lose my pregnant weight. I've been single since her sperm left when I was 3 and half months pregnant. He never came back or has offered any help. I was heart broken and cried everyday. I worked almost 70 hours a week as a tattooer when she came early. There are no explanations to why she came early other than stress. I had a hard time with the NICU, the needles in my baby, the nurses hovering over you all the time, the beeps and alarms, the annoying parents sitting at elbows reach running their mouths non stop. I just wanted to be alone with my beautiful daughter in peace and quiet. Today when I look at her as we wake together in the morning I can't imagine life without her. I used to be so grumpy in the morning. Now, I'm delighted to wake to her snuggled next to me to see her open her eyes and smile at me with those beautiful little gums! Lily has no issues. She's passed all her hearing and eye exams, she's over 10 pounds today and is so completely perfect, I'm proud that we survived the NICU and I've been blessed with a Perfect Preemie. We could not have done it without the nurturing love and commitment of the labor and delivery staff and the NICU team. Not only did they save my daughters life but they saved mine as well. Thank you to all health care workers. You ROCK!

In August of 2003, I was admitted to the hospital in premature labor. At that time I was only 24 weeks pregnant. The doctors held off labor for a few days, but she came anyway-weighing 1lb. and 7oz. Anaya Simone is my blessing... We have been blessed with no long term medical problems-she just celebrated her 1st birthday last week and though she is not walking-she is crawling up a storm. The blessings of my family have bought us through...

my son was born 8 months ago, I was rushed to the hosbital at 21 weeks, dialated to a 6, and the doctors could see our sons head. I was told I would have to get my cervic closed up, and stay in bed for many months. 3 weeks later the doctors told us the factor's of having a baby so early. they said he would only have a 20% chance at life at birth, and only then if he was born alive and steady. At two days shy of 24 weeks my son was born at 1pound 4oz and 11in long. After 3months of being in the hosbital he came home at alittle over 4 pounds. We had him home no longer then two days before he went back in peds, cause of chocking on his milk and getting namua from it. He was there for another month before he came home at 6pounds. Ever since, my son has seem to amaze doctors. He has had little to no problems. He has been off oxgen for a month now, and doctors say he is a very smart baby despite his bumpy start. He is just shy of 11pounds now and just trying to get chubby. With lots of smiles and koos, He has been the greatest joy in his father and I's life. And I'm sure many more joyest things will come.
