Hello, I have a 2 1/2 month old. I had her @ 31 weeks. I was scared to death. I went to the Dr. office the day I had my daughter for a regular appointment, and he said I had preclampsia. To get to the hospital ASAP. My blood pressure was really at a dangerous level when I delivered. My baby girl was delivered weighing 3.9 ounces. They had to take her to a different hospital. My husband was the first to see her and was with her until I got out of the hospital, two days later. Her weight went down to 2.15 lbs. After 5 days I started pumping breast milk. The nurses was giving that to her by her tube. She graduated to a bottle in no time. She never had the breathing tube, just the nasal tube plus IV's. Everyday we walked in the door of the NICU, They only had good news for us. They couldn't believe how well she was getting so fast. The doctor kept asking, are you sure of your due date. Down here before a Preemie can leave the hospital they have to past a car seat test. In order to pass it, they have to sit in a carseat for an hour without their oxygen level going down past 85. Finally after the 3rd time she past it. Thank God. She stayed in the hospital for a month and one day. That's the main thing that got us through it, was GOD himself. All the prayers. I hope my letter will ease somebodies mind. The technology is so far advance now. The problem I have is the medical bills. Even with Insurance I have to pay a big chunk. If anyone knows any groups that will help with medical please let me know. Please email if you have any Questions.

My daughter Hailey Brianna was born at 30 weeks. She weighed 2lbs. 14oz. and 15 inches in length. She stayed in NICU for 2 1/2 weeks and transferred to the Nursery for 1 1/2 weeks. She was perfectly healthy and wasn't on any oxygen or any medicines. She was only hooked up to the monitor! So she only needed to stay there and gain weight. She is my only child and she is Truly a Gift from God and my Pride & Joy!!!! I thanks God everyday for my Baby!! She is now 15 1/2 months and weighs 23.6 lbs. In September 2003 she was diagnosed with Asthma. It was a struggle and scarey experience at first but we have managed to keep it under control. However, this year I teamed up and raised money for the March of Dimes. So we All Can Help Save Babies Lives by donating something. Even if it is just $5 or $10 dollars. Nevertheless, I would love to talk to other mothers/families of other premature babies. It is a blessing to know that there are organizations out there that are helping families and especially premature babies across the world. May God Bless!!!!

My name is Andrea Perez. My daughter, Taylor, was born at 25 weeks and weighed 1 lb. 6 oz. (645 grams). She will be 3 in June and is doing better than expected. She has some minor delays, developmentally and with language, but nothing that is getting in her way. She was born at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. Cedars has a support group for families with children in the NICU called Good Beginnings. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this group. I should add that it's one of the oldest groups that provides this type of support in the country. Every year a reunion is planned for all graduates of the Cedars-Sinai NICU. This year we are looking for any and all graduates from the past 25+ years, for a milestone reunion. If you are someone or know someone who is, please have them contact me by sending an email.
