My name is Traci Jackson and I am the mother of a 1 pound preemie. On Sep. 30th I went into the hospital with severe preeclampsia. I was told that if they could hold me off for 48 hours we would be delivering by c-section. We were able to hold her off to get the Betamethazone shots. On October 1st I delivered Shelby Anne Jackson at Cabell Huntington Hospital. I was only 28 weeks along, but there were other complications I had what was called Intrauterine Grwth Restriction which had caused Shelby to stop growing and when Shelby was delivered she also had a know in her cord. She is my miracle baby and I couldn't imagine life without her. We stayed in the NICU for exactly 90 days and we as well had our good and bad days(the roller coaster is what we called it). Shelby is now about 9lbs and is 6 months old. Thanks for giving me a chance to tell my story. Traci Jackson

well i was reading all the amazing stories ya'll had on your web site about premature babies. i at first was thinking this web page couldn't help me and my emotions and then i got to thinking hey there is a whole lot more people out there that have worse situations then i do. i had my first baby about 2 1/2 months ago he was born at premature, he was 26 weeks. he is still in the hospital and wont be able to come home for a while. it's really hard seeing him tide up with ive's and wires but i know God is watching over me and him both and i just wonted to let all the teen mothers of premature babies now that all they got to do is look up and thank God for your baby actually living!

We've been celebrating 2 birthdays a year, and that's for all our kids. And now I read your research section that Corrected Age is at best "ongoing". Not just the first 2-3 years.....Thanx because when I have the kid in the snugli and or covered in the travel system, by evenflo I get all sorts of comments none of them complimentary mostly abusive, etc....It's been fun being a Preemie Parent and I've had to deal with so much abuse. I drink "Coke" vanilla to keep the kids from apnea, etc and the Ensure, for me for extra nutrients for B/Feeding,etc. As well, I Cover my kids anyway because of some Myths that aren't myths at all, like "Najjar", and I have Surma/Kohl on behind my ears, too. It's been a great experience with the help of Hospital Security, IAHSS, and NCMEC supporting my decision not to "show off" my chil(dren).....I've been fully supported by my husband of TEN Years, too.....He's a GOD send, THANX for such a great bunch of kids over the last so many years and view my other entry, too OOXX All the Best to You and Yours. You're doing a great job. My 6 Preemies 5 boys and a girl. '96 at 24 wks, '98 at 24 wks, 2000 at 26 wks, 2001 at 28 wks 2002 at 28 wks and 2003 at 25 wks. We're expecting again anywhere between May and August 17'th/'04.....Luvya lotsa; Indi K Sidhu OOXX Gotta love those stores that sell Baby's Own Preemie clothing sets. Also, when folks just don't listen to Please don't touch.....And I often mention kidnapping charges and a call to 9-1-1 and that happened recently a complete stranger was using the guise of trying to help and also "wouldn't let it go" and his friend implyed that I'm just so ingratefull, and crazy as well as "Something wrong with your thinking", etc. And when I mentioned a call to the Police they backed off, but not without saying " OK it's over and done with, now I don't want to hear another word about it." So, I "e" 'd the Police newton@rcmp-grc.gc.ca as well as IAHSS and NCMEC, too. Thanx for that other blurb are they connected with you or others, that is after the NICU, etc. and Thanx to Dr. P.S.
