I have 2 miracle preemies. Avery now 2, was born at 35 wks due to me having toxemia, spent 2wks in the NICU other than having reflux which was diagnosed until he was 8wks old and not breathing he was fine. Now 2 yrs old and a handful!Thank God! Ian is my 30 weeker. I had a placenta abruption at 16 wks and was told I would not carry him full term if he survived at all. 11 wks later my water broke and I spent the next 3 wks in the High Risk OB unit in Indianapolis and Ian was born exactly 3 wks after my water broke. My prayer was Lord let me make it until at least 30 wks and please let me be home at Christmas w/ Avery. Ian was born at 30 wks exactly and I came home 5 days b4 Christmas. Ian stayed in the NICU until 10 days b4 his 2nd month birthday. He had 2 blood transfusions, BPD, reflux, and some other problems. I was told he would remain on oxygen and a monitor until 6 months to 2yrs. He was off within less than 2 months of coming home. He just turned 1 on Dec 18 although his adjusted age is 10 1/2 months. He is in therapy 2 days a week and is currently developing between 11 1/2 to 12 months. The only thing he is not doing is walking on his own. But why should he Mommy will take him anywhere he needs to go. My children are truely miracles and would not be here without the prayers and faith of everyone around and without God above. I can look at my children and see God's miracles with my own eyes.

First of all, thank you to all parents who share their uplifting stories of raising a preemie. I birthed a beautiful baby girl on December 31, 2003 at 28 1/2 weeks due to severe preeclampsia. She was 1 pound 8.6 oz when she was born, lost down to 1 pound 5 oz, and is now already back up to 1 pound 10 oz. She was 12 1/2 inches long and is now 13 inches long. She started her life with an intubator tube down her throat to help her breathe, and is now on C-PAP requiring little help. She had PDA but was helped with only two doses of medication and her vessel closed. She is now only feeding on breast milk. They stopped her IV fluids, and she was on lipids to help her gain weight and they have stopped that as well! God is doing a mighty work in our little Haylee's life. She is a miracle baby and doing great. Those days and nights of driving to the NICU to visit our daughter are tough when you know you have to leave her there, but it is worth the drive when I continue to hear positive reports of her continuing success. I am happy to read all of your success stories, and my heart goes out to those who struggle and may not have such success stories to tell, but each story helps a new preemie mom. She is our first child, and this is very overwhelming to both dad and mom. I've been on my emotional roller coaster since she was born. To God be the Glory for great things he has done, and the precious life he has allowed to be brought into this world by my husband and me. I can only pray for her continued good health, and a speedy home coming! I can't wait to share the story of her first tooth, first word, first haircut, first day of school.....with all of you preemie parents who thrive on updated stories as I do! Thank you for lending your ear to hear about our precious daughter's strong fight for her life in the NICU in Pensacola, FL.

I've had 6 Preemies and expecting more, after so many losses. This is My first Girl, so when she was still in hospital, so that she wouldn't be "swarmed" I bought a white with red/pink hearts on it log icecream cake from Dairy Queen, the balloon, and flowers, and T-shirt, for the baby, (for decoration,"I was born in RCH" etc.....Then "I added my two cents" for the temple dinner, that was being held that evening. Luvya lotsa; Indi OOXX

My husband and I just had our 2nd preemie 9 months ago. Our son, Noah, was a 31 weeker and Sydney was a 35 weeker. Both kids were in the hospital around 5 weeks with different complications. I feel like just now after all this time the trauma is finally hitting me. I am so emotional about the last time we went through all of this. There are such vivid images in my mind of Sydney struggling to breathe or the words "unresponsive" from the nursing staff. I love my children and thank the Lord that they are alive and home. I think I just realized today that this is something that we may deal with for years, emotionally for me and maybe physically with the kids. Who would have guessed we were in for all of this when we decided we wanted a family. Thank the Lord for his faithfulness through the last 3 years. We could not have made it without our faith and prayers!
