Our daughter Morgan Grace was born at 33 wks gestation. At birth, Morgan weighed 3 lbs 14 oz. She was sent to St Mary's Children's Hospital in Rochester, MN at 3 wks of age for a PDA repair and a week later we were home with her big sister. The first month of Morgan's life was full of emotion. She is growing into a very delightful little girl. The experience has changed my life! The past 17 months have been difficult - but we were successful in our fight! While in the NICU a nurse told me "God chose you because he knew you would overcome." Those words have given me faith and hope. Please remember to stay strong! Michelle

Hi, im nicole and i had my son at 31 weeks due to toxemia. dr said he was always bigger then average babies. august 4, 2003 at 6 pm Ethyn Collins was born weighting 3 lbs 15.5 ounces. which is big for a 31 weeker. He stayed on oxygen for 6 days. he dropped to 3 lbs 5 ounces, but picked back up quickly. i decided to breastfeed him to get him fat and get out of the NICU because i wanted him home soon. the hardest part was leaving him at night and till this day i still cry. im only 21 and his father is 19. they did an ulttrasound of his brain and everything was normal. he had premature apnea spells as many as 20 a day. they finally put him on caffeine to stop the spells and it worked . he would have a spell every once in a while. a week after i had him a pcoket of fluid built up and leaked out of my c-section cut. for the next 5 weeks i had to go to the doctor everyday for him to pack my incision with medicated gauze to close the wound up from inside to outside which hurt like god knows what but wasnt any inconvience for my because Ethyn was in the hospital and the doctor's office was in the hospital. We finally got to take our baby home 43 days later. 6 weeks and one day Ethyn was weighting 6 lbs 3.3 oucnes and 19.5 inches long. Today he is 14 weeks old ( 3 months annd 1 week) he is a healthy 10 lbs 4 ounces..23 inches long.. and eats 6 ounces of milk with rice cereal. It was a rough 6 weeks in the hospital but it was all worth it. Our lil miracle is home and doing fantastic!!

Our son Alexander was born on April 12 2003 at 25 weeks gestation and at 1lb 14oz. four days before my husband was getting sent to Kuait. It was devistating. I was down in La Crosse WI for the weekend to say my goodbyes to my husband when I went into labor. Unfortunately my husband still had to leave and I was left in a state I didn't know and was far from family and friends. When our son was two weeks old they emergency air lifted him to St. Mary's in Rochester MN. When I arrive a couple hours later the news wasn't good. They didn't expect our son to survive. After two months in the NICU one of the doctors came to talk to me about how we should start to think about if we want to keep our son on life support. At that point the docotors thought Alex wouldn't get any better. We chose to do everthing we possibly could and after three long months we got the date when we could take him home and on July 27th 2003 we took him home. Even though we had to take him home on oxygen and monitors we were just thankful to be home. Now Alex is 7 months old and weighs 12lbs 4oz. He has theraphy once a week and nurses that come twice a month to see how he is doing. I believe my son was a miracle and there are a lot more miracles being born everyday.
