To all the new parents of premature babies remember to take one day at a time. This little babies will make progress at their own rate, they need to show you who is really in control. This little ones are gifts from God -- Cherish them and don't loose faith. My son is now 7 months old and completely caught up to a full term baby in size and skills. He was born at 33 weeks weighing in at 5lbs 9 oz and was 19.5" long. Since he had a few spells with apnea and did not know how to suck, breath, and swallow during feedings, he spent 3 weeks in the NICU. He was sent home on an apnea monitor, which was scary at first but then became a security blanket to me. His time in the NICU was very difficult, I felt alone and didn't feel that anyone could possibly understand. I wish that I would have thought to look on the internet for support at the time.

I celebrate my beautiful children which are truly God's proof of miracles. My 10 year old son was born 6 weeks early and weighed 3.9 pounds and was healthy. Today he is a bright, well adjusted soon to be young man. My beautiful daughter, born on Leap Day in 2000 was a mere 435 grams (15 ounces)! She (so far) is a beautiful, happy little girl. People tell me how lucky I am. Believe me, LUCK has nothing to do with it! GOD did it all and he put wonderful angels disguised as doctors and nurses in our little girl's life. Always have prayers in your heart and His Will shall be done for the best of all concerned. God Bless.

My little girl Indira was born September 1998 36 weeks, 6lbs. 4 oz(a big girl)spent 2 weeks in the NICu due to the same problems. She's now a very healthy, talkative 2.5 year old toddler. Both are the my greatest joys!!
