My son Cody was born May 30, 2001 at 27 weeks. The had to resuscitate him after being born because there was no signs of life in him. He spent 4 months in the NICU which was a rollercoaster ride. He was on the ventilator for 7 weeks. He developed pneumonia at 3 weeks old, had chronic lung disease, ROP, and hernia surgery before he came home to us on September 11, 2001. Although this was a very tragic day for everyone in America, it was a very sweet day for us. Our miracle baby came home! He has now been home with us for over a year and has done very well. He just start walking this week and is so proud of himself. To anyone out there with a preemie in NICU, keep your head held high and be strong. The outcome from the NICU is a beautiful baby to love and cherish!

My son, Tanner, was born on June 27, 2002 at 25 weeks gestation. He weighed 1# 9oz and was 11 inches long. He was in the NICU until September 12, 3 weeks after coming off the ventilator. He suffered many setbacks such as difficulty extubating, grade 3 head bleeds, and hernia repair surgery. He also has suffered two episodes of apnea and bradycardia that landed him back in the PICU twice since his original release. After a blood transfusion and a medication to prevent the occurrence of seizures, we are home and doing fine. He will be 4 months old next week, and weighed in yesterday at 7# 8oz. We are still battling ROP, for which he was back in the PICU last week to have corrective surgery for, but he is progressing daily. He, along with my 4 year old daughter, are the joy of my life.

I really like reading all the entries, it is nice to hear of all the accomplishments of all the babies.
My 4th child was born on May 5 2002, exactly 12 weeks early at 28 weeks gestation, he weighed 2lbs 2 ounces and was 13.5 inches long.
He stayed at the world renouned MC MASTER hospital in Hamilton canada for only 7 weeks, and was released weighing 4 lbs 5 ounces.
He throughout was very very tiny, what they consider a micro preemie, but breathed on his own from day one, no infections, no brain bleeds, so far no sight or hearing problems. Cayleb is now almost 6 months old, and weighs 12lbs. He is so wonderful, such a happy baby considering what his entrance to the world started out like.
