both my boys were prem. My eldest was born at 33.33 weeks due to uterine sepsis. he weighed 3pd 11oz. he was in the NICU for a month. We did put off him entering primary school for a year on the advice of his speech therapist as his delay were not great enough to recieve services at school. He is now in prep (kinder) and doing great. he is one of the oldest in his class but it is a prep/1 class so it doesn't really matter. He's nearly 7 and is a very tall skinny boy at 4 ft weighing at 20kg. he loves computers and racing cars My youngest was born at 35 weeks due to unknown causes. he spent 2 weeks in the NICU. he's now 3 weighing at 15kg at 3 ft. he loves running and jumping and pretening to be a puppy dog.

I am a mother of 2 preemies and 2 full term. My oldest child was full term and is getting ready to celebrate her third birthday in Sept. My son was my first preemie. I was 29 weeks pregnant when he was born. He passed away 10 weeks later from SIDS. Madison, my 2nd full term baby passed away from a rare infection less than a year later. She was only 29 days old. Her one year anniversary just passed. My newest addition, Hailey was 5 weeks early and she is doing well. She is now 11 1/2 weeks old and lifts her head, sleeps through the night (finally), does the frog hop across the bed, is eating baby food, and is now getting her first tooth. Congratulations Hailey!

My baby is 4 today 8/6. She was born at 27 weeks. She is an angle. You look at her and you could never tell she was born that early. I am the luckiest mother in the world her sister was born at 32 weeks and is 2 on 9/13 you look at her and could never tell the difference. I just wanted to tell everyone if you believe and work with your child that they can be anythin.

In 1958 in a country town in the cold month of July, my mother was admitted to the maternity unit to have a termination of her pregnancy, her medical condition was life threatening, the pregnancy was just near the five month period. It was a Sunday morning and the Doctor had to be called from church to look after my mother - the procedure was undertaken and into a cold and shallow stainless steel tray this 1.5lb baby was placed. The midwife expressed great sympathy to my mother and her loss and suggested that they baptise this baby so that his soul goes to heaven. To the shock of all in theatre that day after pouring the cold water was the movement of the baby....He is alive was the shout that the midwife made and all manner of movement occured as they rushed to start up the humidicrib that had only been purchased that week, prior to my birth. I am now 44, healthy and so grateful that i can share this story with you today. I feel alone sometimes at having had this type of birth, and then i feel for my mother who had to hide this story from the shame of a community opposed to termination and pretend that the birth of her son was not as it appeared.
