Our son Mark was born on 2/7/10 at 1 lb 15ozs. I was 26 weeks. He was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months. When he was born he was on a ventilater for 8hrs and later went to a cannula. He had no surgeries. They had to give him 1 unit of blood while there and he had a feeding tube in. He had issues with reflux and had to come home on a apnea monitor. He will be 2 in a couple of months and he is walking, playing, talking, and very smart. Looking back I remember how my husband and I use to sit at his bedside reading and praying each day. Remember everychild is different and God's plan is different for each child. Our son is healthy and has not had to get admitted to the hospital since he left. God give special children to special people. There is a reason why he allows some babies to come early.

My premature baby (now a 32 year old
woman!) was born at 26 weeks gestation
in 1979 weighing 2 lbs.,7oz.and 14in.
long. Yes, she had problems, but she did
well in the grand scheme of things.
She's a college graduate and now works
in early intervention with autistic and
down syndrome children (she's a special
education teacher.). She far exceeded
what I was told she would be able to do!

Yes I Just had my son Damien Alejandro Perez at 22 weeks and 4 Days, weighing 1 pound and 4 ounces on September 30,2011. He is currently still in NBICU he is on his 5th day and progressing better everyday. I am at the hospital everyday by his side I talk to him and let him know im there. He shows me signs that he hears me he will move his little hands or legs. I am a first time mom and im 21 if I may ask for your help to pray and help my baby get better and make it home soon. After all doctors told me due to complications I had there is a good chance this could be the only baby I am going to be able to have. I pray every chance I get to thank God for helping me get this far, and to keep helping my son progress and make it home with me. Prayers would be really appreciated thank you so very much. My baby girl was born 8 weeks early weighing 2 lbs. 13 ozs. and was 15" long. She did very well for her size. She was breathing room air at 4 days old. The doctors said she was perfect just small. The only real problem she had was getting the suck, breath and swallow movement down when eating. She spent 31 days in the NICU. This was 7 years ago. She is now a very active and healthy 2cd grader. She has never had any problems physically or developmentally from being a preemie, thand goodness. The only lasting effect is she is tiny. She barely weighs 42 pounds. Other than that she is perfect. Any parent dealing with the NICU I want to say that I know it is scary and frustrating but it will get better.
