I am the mom of 2 preemie girls! Emma was born at 31 weeks, 6 days gestation. Three and a half years later, her sister Audrey was born at 29 weeks, 2 days gestation. They are both beautiful, strong and thriving! Audrey is almost 1, and is having some developmental delays, but that is nothing when you consider what she has survived! Preemies are the most special babies and children in the world!

I was a preemie baby, born three months early and weighing in at 2 pounds 13 ounces. I'm happy to tell you all that I'm now seventeen years old, standing tall at five and a half feet, and weighing one hundred and forty pounds. I'm a perfectly healthy girl aside from a little bit of acid reflux. Don't be afraid preemie parents! Your babies will be just fine.

Hello All- I wanted to take a moment to spread some good and hopeful news to everyone who visits this celebratory site. As many know, last month was Prematurely Awareness Month, and it was then that three preemie experienced families came together to reflect about an uncertain past and rejoice about the certainty of the future. Celebrating Prematurely Awareness, four preemie veterans, with their families alongside, were back at the place where they spent the first part of their tiny, fragile lives--Texas Children’s Hospital. From 21 year old twins returning home to Houston from college, to Tenley Wolfe who enjoyed her first ever piece of cake, the day was an event of celebration and reflection as the families thanked Texas Children’s Newborn NICU staff and doctors for giving them a chance at life. A chance, not one of them has taken for granted.
