Hello, My name is Jody and my son was born on 6/13/07. My water broke at 22 weeks and 4 days. When I went to the hospital I wasn't in labor but they told me that my baby wouldn't survive the next 24 hours because there was very little of fluid left and that he wasn't valuable. Well I was able to keep him for 7 days before I delivered him by c-section at 23weeks and 4 days. He weighed 1 pound and 3.8 ounces and 11in. long. We spent 90 days in the NICU. He wasn't suppose to survive but with my faith and his strong will he survived. They called him my miracle baby. He was breathing room air for the first couple of days. He was surprising them all of how well he was doing. They told me that he was on his Honey Moon. After a couple of days the race begun. He has been on every different ventilator in the NICU. He was on steroids for about a month. He had good days and some not so good. He has chronic lung disease and he was on caffeine for most of the time we were there. He didn't have and problems with bleeding in his head or any eating disorders but he had ROP of his eyes. They started to bleed after one month. He came home on 9/11/07. He is almost 9 months old now but he is 5 months gestation and weighs 18 pounds now. We spend a lot of time in the Doctor office. He has had 2 surgeries on his left eye. He has very little sight in that eye but the right eye is doing fine. We are just beginning to see where he is developmentally. He is such a blessing in our lives. He has come a long way and he is continuing to grow and get stronger everyday. I hope that my story will give you faith. I know when this happened to me I didn't know of any one that had a baby younger then 24 weeks and survived. My little miracle is here and is such a blessing to my life. So I encourage you to stay strong. If you get down you can contact me. Expect Miracles they do happen. I live with one every day!!!

Hello Feb 2, 08 I had my baby girl 13 weeks premature. She only weighed 1 lb. 13 ozs. She has been in the NICU for 31 days. She now weighs 2 lbs. 10 ozs. The doctors say she is doing extremely well. She was taken off the ventilator after just a week. She is on just a nasal cannula now. My husband had left for work in south texas the night that I went into labor and hasn't been able to come home to see her yet. Possibly still another 3-5 weeks til he can. It is hard and I know that I am wearing myself down. I'm up at the hospital 3-4 times a day now. Anyone who has been or is still going through the same thing and wants to talk would be appreciated.

I have created a site for Braelyn, my nephew who was born weighing 12.5 oz. He is our family miracle! Our wish is to share his story with everyone, and to offer hope to parents who may be experiencing the same joy, heartache & emotional rollercoaster of having a preemie baby.

I was a premature baby. I was 3 months early. Weighed 1 pound 5 oz and 13 inches long. I couldn't breath on my own, my lungs weren't fully developed yet. I had to stay in the hospital till I was 4 months old. They put IVs in my head. So now I have 4 scars there. While I was in the hospital, I dropped below a pound. Surprisingly, I lived. I am now 23 years old. I have no mental or psychical complications. I do not have asthma or any other breathing problems. I am just short for my age. I am 4'10 and weigh between 80-85 pounds. I wanted to post this to show that premmies CAN survive with no problems. I am very blessed and thank God everyday that I'm alive.

My son Zane was born Dec 3, 2001 at 31 wks (he was due Jan 28, 2002) and weighed 4 Lbs even he stayed in the NICU for 3 weeks and a few days he was my Christmas present that year because he came home on Christmas eve! He had a few struggles early on he caught RSV when he was 3 months and also was hospitalized when he was a year old with a virus of the digestive tract. Other than that he has got along ok until now he is in Kindergarten and his pediatrician thinks he may have Adhd and possible learning disabilities. I thought once we got past the earlier years that we would be ok!! I was wrong so hopefully this site will help me with his current issues. He is so full of life I just dont want these issues to get him down!!!
