My name is Kathy. When I came to this sight and read some of your stories it helped me so much. I now truely feel that I am not alone. My daughter Heather is still in the NICU. She was born at 24 weeks on August 17 due to bleeding from my placenta. After exhausting every means to stop the contractions a sonogram showed that Heather was in a breech position. I was rushed in for an emergency c-section. They only gave me a spinal and did not put me to sleep. I had no pain, but I could feel the doctor pull her out of my stomach. For many days I was a mess because to have a baby taken out of you before she is ready is a feeling I'm sure many of you can relate with. Heather was 1lb. 6oz. I have been truely blessed by Heathers' spirit. She is now 3lbs. 4oz. So far she has had no major problems. I have two toddlers at home, but they are in school during the day so I go visit with Heather. In the beginning she did not like to be touched, but now she can not get enough! I call her "squeeker" because she doesn't cry, she squeeks when the nurses do something that she doesn't like! She loves her Kangaroo time and wrinkles her face when I have to put her back in bed. She gets stronger every day! I have been truely blessed and I feel God is with us every moment of the day.

My baby boy was born on the 07/08/07, he weighed 2lbs 10oz and was 14 inches long. he was 11 weeks early. It was a very big shock to me when he was born, noone picked up i was even in labour in the hospital. He turned up at 00.39 in the morning and was transfered to the neonatal unit at 05.00am.I got to see him for 10 minutes after he was born but did not get to hold him. i sa him then at 13.30 that after, it was so long to wait. He was in intensive care for about 5 and a half weeks, he was ventilated for the first few days then moved on to cpap which he was on for several weeks then was on just a little flow of air then it was removed completely. That was the best day ever apart from him coming home. He had several test scans,as they do and two blood transfusions which were difficult to watch as he looked so helpless and there was nothing i could do. He eventually moved out of intensive care and another few weeks and he was home.i couldnt wair for that day. We last a few days at home and unfortunatley had to go back as he stopped breatheing, it was due to a cold, but that was the scariest day of my life being driven awa with him in an ambulance not knowing what was going to happen, he was in for 2 weeks again and now we are finally home again for a week now and hopefully forever, fingers crossed. he is now 11 weeks old and doing well, he is now 6lbs in weight and growing.

I went into labor at 2 weeks. we held until 24 weeks and 1 day when our beautiful dani was born. She weighed 505 grams, or 1 pond and 1.5 ounces. She went from oscillating vent to jet vent. Then c-pap, nasal canula, then only oxygen at feeding when we went home after 73 days. She weighed 3 [ounds and 7 ounces. We had a pulse ox and monitor. Sbe went to hospital for apeas after 2 weeks. After increasign cafffeine we were released. Dr. read ;monitor report and told us machine said no apeas. Hmmm the miracles keep coming. Now she is 4 months and 1 week out of the womb.
