I was pregnant with our fist child due October 14. I went in for an ultrasound at 21 weeks to determine the sex of the baby, I was told the baby was too small to come back in 4 weeks. I went back and was told that I was expecting a lil boy. The next day I received a call from my obgyn telling me that my son was not growing properly and that I need to see a specialist to see what was going on and to make a decision whether or not to term the pregnancy. I went the same day they did another ultrasound measuring the baby, he was only measuring at 18 weeks and I was havening problems with poor blood flow thru the umbilical cord. The doctors told me that I was going to have a stillbirth and if I had a c-section he would not make it because he was growth restricted. We decided to wait, I went back for a follow up 4 weeks later and nothing really changed. So I went back 2 weeks later now my fluid was almost gone, so we decided it was time to go to the hospital. I was admitted put on bed rest and on IV fluids to try to hydrate the baby. Little did I know that I was having miner contractions, I thought it was my son putting himself in to a ball. Every time I had a contraction my sons heart rate would drop to the low 50’s I was put on medication to stop the contractions, but that only last 4 day. I had to have an emergency c-section at 31 weeks. My son was born August 2nd weighing 1 lb 8 oz and 11 ½ inches long breathing on his own. Then 6 days after he was born he had to have surgery because he could not poop on his own. After surgery he became very sick, he started to retain fluid and was put on a ventilator. Things seem to be getting better, but then he got sick again I was told he was having liver problems. They told me not to worry because the liver was the only organ that could rejuvenate. Well things did not get better, they talked about doing a biopsy the outcome was 50/50. We decided to go thru with the biopsy because that was the only way to move forward. He had surgery at 7 weeks and everything went well. Now we are waiting for the report to come back, this is where our story stands. I know that my son is a fighter and I will be bringing him home.
*** Please anyone who has gone thur liver failure please help, you could save his life.
