My baby boy, Nick, was born in July 1987 after 2-1/2 days of labor. My OB/GYN was hoping the labor pains would cease, but Nick was ready to come. He was due in October 1987, but there was no holding this little guy back. He weighed a whopping one lb., 13 ozs. and dropped to one lb., six ozs. (His older brother weighed 8 lbs., 12-1/2 ozs.) We were told Nick may not walk, talk or think for himself. After 3 months, we took Nick home along with his heart monitor and oxygen tank and many, many medicines. He weighed 5 lbs., 14 ozs. at three months. He had many problems, but we prayed and worked through each one. Every doctor was amazed at Nick's raw determination. Nick defied all the odds and continues to do so. He is now 20 years old and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. God is truly amazing.

I am 23 years old. I just had my 3lb 7.9 oz baby girl by c-section on tuesday. She was born at 32 weeks due to preeclampsia. She is doing well. She stayed on the ventilator less than a day, and at 4 days old today is taking a small bottle every 12 hours. I went to visit her tonight and was allowed to take her temperature and change her diaper.

Elijah was born June 19, 2007. He weighed 2 pounds even and was 13 inches long. I had to have him at 29 weeks due to a very sudden onset of severe preeclampsia. I had 12,500 mg protein in my 24 hr urine sample, and my blood pressure kept getting higher & higher. I heard Eli cry when he was born; I was so relieved that he was strong enough to let his mommy hear him! Eli is now over 2 1/2 lbs and is making me so proud. All he has right now is a canula and feeding tube. I am 22 years old, and Elijah is my first child. I got to rock him for 30 minutes the other night - probably the best therapy I've ever had!
