I am a Mommy to a preemie, Gavin was born on Feb. 16th 2003 at 30 weeks gest. He is now 4 and very much healthy. He faced a few problems, But is now a normal 4 year old boy. For the Mommies that read this, I know where you were once, and yes, It is scary, But be strong for your baby!

Hello. My name is Susan, I have a 3 y/o daughter that was born at 26 weeks. I had pre-eclampsia and was not diagnosed until it was too late. She was born weighing 1lb 2oz. To make a long story short, she wasn't suppose to survive. I was suppose to make funeral arrangments as I healed from an emergency C-section. She had undeveloped lungs, brain, and other vital organs. I was given a 30% chance of survival and even if she did survive prematurity who could say if she would survive off the ventilator... BUT... By the Grace of God and prayers by people we never even met, Aaliyah Giselle Thomas survived and is an active, vibrant, beautiful little girl. She does has CP, not the worst case, but it's there, she gets daily therapy and is under weight, height, and developmentally delayed. She is our angel!!! God Bless

My wife gave birth to twins at only 24 weeks. Sadly, we lost one of our boys two days later, but our other one is a real fighter. This is the hardest things we've ever had to endure, and I'm glad there are sites like this to help us through these times. I gave birth to two beautiful little boys September 2, 2005 at 26 weeks. Born at 2 lbs each the boys were very sick and not expected to survive. After 4 days we lost our son Connor and fought everyday for the next 6 months to get Caleb well enough to come home. It was a long hard road but he finally got to come home February 28th, 2006. He is almost 2 now and is the most amazing little human I have ever met.

I just gave birth June 1 to a baby boy ( T.J) who was born at 34 weeks due to me having preeclampsia. My older two children were term healthy babies, so this is new and very emotionally hard for me having a pre mature baby. It is hard to leavethe NICU after visiting, and even harder at night when things calm down from the day and I realize my baby is not here with me. My little girl is one tomorrow! I can hardly believe a year has gone by already. She was born two months early. She weighed three pounds and spent a month in the NICU. Everyday was a struggle for my family and I. I feel blessed that she is healthy and happy. Happy Birthday Gia! Mommy Loves you.
