My first look at my 1 lb. 8.2 oz. baby was the most painful and wonderful thing i think i have ever felt. Knowing that she was ours if even for a short time here on earth was the most amazing feeling. Well she made it past a few hours, even 72. She made it through a PDA ligation at 1 lb. 15 oz. and she made it through eye surgery, she had a level 2 brain bleed on one side, that absorbed back into the brain before she left the hospital. She was born on August 5th, 2006, and she left the hospital on November 7th, 2006. I know that, that was the happiest day of my life! I never thought it would come. I never thought that i would bring home a absolutely perfect baby girl! But God gave me her and she is PERFECT! I remember the feeling i got when i was just crying because she was going to have to go through her 1st surgery at less than 2 pounds, and i remember that night as i was alone next to her bed, crying and praying, and she opened her 1 eye a tiny bit for the very first time! She looked at ne and moments later after my mom scrubbed up we got a picture of it. I just remember everything and to go over it in my head most of the time dpesn't seem like it is possible that we went through that. Mainly that she had to go through that, that perfect little human had to go through all the pain. She is our miracle, just as anyone who reads this, has there miracle baby. We never know how long someone will be in our lives for, we never hope to outlive our children. She was our first and we adore her more than life itself! I just wanted to share some of our story to help whomever reads this through there's. I know i wished to read about a baby less than 2 & 1/2 lbs. Did she really have a chance i would ask myself. Together we were in the hospital 104 days, my husband, mom, and i stayed in RMH's for 104 days. I can't thank them enough either by the way. All I can say is keep up that hope, our babies deserve it and trust in God he knows what he is doing, thank Him for every second he gives you with that baby, I had a few of my friends i made babies pass away, but i also had a bunch of them take them home as well. God will take care of you and He loves you and He loves our babies! Remember that and you truly can get through anything! God Bless and thank you for reading this! By the way Khalan is now over 10 & 1/2 lbs. and over 23 inches long she was born at 12" andher lowest recorded weight was 1lb. 3.4 oz. She is truly perfect no residual effects of any kind and growing like a weed!

part 1
I was 21-22 weeks pregnant when i went to the hospital in labor with my baby girl. I was on my way home from vacation in north carolina, when I went into labor. I planned on having my little girl at home with a midwife. That is not what happened. We called my midwife and told her that i was bleeding some, she told us to go to the nearest hospital to get checked out and have some peace of mind. So we went to the ER in Tifton, GA. They hooked me up and said i think you are fine, but the doctor will be here soon to check you out and then we will send you for an ultrasound. Since it had been a picture perfect pregnancy up until then I was taken completely aback when i heard the news, it turned out i was 3-4 centimeters dialated and the bag WAS bulging. I was immediately rushed by ambulance to Macon, GA where the nearest NICU was, being told that i was going to have that baby tonight and they only hoped that it would be when we got to the hospital. Terrified and devistated we left with my husband in the front seat of the ambulance and my parents not too far behind the ambulance. I of course had already been started on the steroid shots and IV fluids. Our whole family in tears we left. Knowing that if she was born tonight, it was not going to happen, she would not survive. I prayed and prayed and thanked God for letting me be a Mommy up until this point! As most parents, we couldn't have been happier when we found out about her. Khalan had been head down for about a month at that point every time i had an ultrasound and witht he changing of physicians i had a quite a few. When we got to macon, they did another ultrasound and found that she had flipped to breach position and after a week of trendelemburg and 2 hemmorages, finally on the 3rd hemmorage I had to have her.

After weeks of being in and out of the hospital, my daughter was born at 30 weeks. I remember when the doctor came into the hospital room and told me that they had to take her. I cried during the entire c-section. She was healthy weighing in at 3 pounds 5 ounces and only spent 4 weeks in the NICU. She has been home now for about a month and is doing great.

My first grandson was born 3 months early & 2.2 lbs.it was a big shock to us all as my daughter did everything correctly during her pregnancy. He is now coming up to his first birthday and is loving all the attention he gets.He is still tiny 15.3lbs.but a little angel with big blue alert eyes.
We no longer think of him as a "premmie" but our "little man" who is catching up fast and will grow up big strong and healthy, thanks to all the love and support of the nursing staff at the unit where he spent his first few months.
