Our daughter Emily was born at 26 weeks, she weighed 2lbs. 2 oz and 14 1/2 inches long. The nurses and doctors took very good care of her in the U of L NICU. She stayed in NICU for 2 1/2 months and actually came home 3 weeks before my due date. She is now a happy, healthy, tall, very intelligent 2 1/2 year old. You will have your good days as well as your bad days in NICU, just take it one day at a time, because when you get to take that precious child home, there is no greater feeling in the world.

Today, January 16, 2007, my baby, Rece, turned 4. It seems like just yesterday that he was born, wieghing just 16.5 ounces. After 77 long, trying days in the NICU, he came home, still only weighing 3 lbs, 12 oz. He has mild CP and wears DAFOs (leg braces). It has been a long struggle, with many triumphs and heartbreaks - but we wouldn't trade him for anything! It is a long road we travel and sometimes you think you can't do it anymore, but our preemies teach us to never give up hope.

Our son was born Jan.10,2006 at 28 weeks. He was in the NICU for 80 days and came home 2 days before his expected due date. We have just celebrated his first birthday! It has been an amazing year full of both fears and excitement, but we are so blessed to have a healthy active one year old! For anyone with a baby in the NICU right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and it might not seem like it now, but life will go back to normal very soon! God Bless and my prayers are with you!

I wrote here a few times since the birth of our son, Dmytri Kandiurin II on October 4, 2001. He was born 9 weeks early and weighed 4 lbs, 15 oz. Today, Dmytri is 5 years old. Last month we went to the Pediatrician for the last time - YAHOO!! Dmytri no longer needs to see the Pediatrician on a regular basis, as most Preemies do. The doctor had no worries with Dmytri. Dmytri still enjoys Hockey, Hockey, Hockey. Every day, he tells us how much he loves us or how we are the best parents in the world. He continues to thrive each day, loves his siblings to death and is a great friend to all. All I can say to all the parents that have gone through what we did, is to hang in there and continue to have hope and faith. We often think of the twin that we lost when I was 19 weeks, but as I said before, Dmytri makes up for the both of them. GOd Bless You All!!

My little bundle of joy was just born on January 3,2007. I was 27 weeks and 6 days when my water broke. When we got to the hospital, they told my I had lost a lot of amniotic fluid and I was ordered to strict bed rest in hopes that I wouldn't go into labor. 4 days later I woke up to contractions, and the nurses said I was going into labor. I was then rushed to Labor and Deliverary, to find out I was indeed having my little girl that day. Words cannot describe how scared my husband and I were. And at 2:05 pm we welcomed Peyton Rylee into the world. She weighed in at 2 pounds and 8 ounces, and was 14 inches long. She is now in the NICU and they say she is doing very very well. She is breathing on her own since birth and they say she will be there until my due date which is March 25.

My son was born prematurely at 32 weeks weighing 4 pounds 1 ounce. He spent a month in the hospital. Now, he is 7 years old, a very happy, well developed boy, with no issues. Each day I am reminded how blessed he is and how lucky there were no lasting problems.
