My daughter Chelsea was born April 4, 2006. I was 24 weeks pregnant. She weighed only 380 grams{13 oz.}. She was in the Hospital for 4 months. It was a long journey but one we will never forget. We have been home since July 19, 4 days before her due date. and she is doing great. She is up to 8lbs.

I just bumped into your cite for a nutrition class I'm taking. I was born in 1966 weighing 1lb 11oz and being 73 days early. I wanted to interject a positive note and say pre term babies do survive and we can thrive. Fortunately I do not have any long term impacts other than the fact I am standoffish with realtionships. Hold and touch your baby as much as posible. My parents were not allowed to do this and I feel if they were, it could have resolved some potential issues in my future. Just an opinion, not supported by documentation but I feel touch can make a world of difference in a babies life and prepare them for more touching as they grow..

Stephen was born May 20th, 2006 at 3 lbs 8 oz at 32 weeks. I was sick for about 10 days prior and had no idea how much better off I was with him in my belly. I just remember the drs saying 31 weeks, your fine, the baby will do great. After 5 weeks in the NICU at Northwestern in Chicago he came home. He like most little boys stuggled with bradies and various other issues. Our biggest struggle to date was acid reflux which kept him from gaining weight a lot of the time. However, one day as the dr. predicted it magically dissappearer and he is gaining fast now! Today, he is 5 months old and 13 lbs...we feel so lucky and blessed.
