My daughter Ella Elizabeth was born at 24 weeks weighing only 1 lb 3 oz to save my life. It will always be hard for me to truly accept that they risked her life to save mine, but God's hand has been evident in all her trials. She will be a year old on the 1st of November. Of the 15 major preemie complications she had 12. She was a very sick baby but now is a happy, vibrant baby with health issues under control. In honor of her birthday we are assembling NICU baskets for the parents at our hospital. Many of the parents there had nothing, no cameras or gifts or clothes for the babies and once you hear of a baby going home wrapped in an adult t-shirt it makes you want to do something. We are having a huge birthday party for Ella (200+ people!) and asking them to bring journals, disposable cameras, gas cards, kleenex, books to read to the babies, snacks, chap stick, lotion, and other items. I am also looking for donations of gently used preemie clothing to include. Faith and hope got us through our trial and for some that hope only lasts a few hours. Others don't know what to say or do so a basket celebrating life is our goal in this project. If you are interested in helping please email me. God bless you and all your preemies! Natalie

My son Zachary was born on 7/10/2000 at 8:13pm. He was born by emergency c-section because I was so sick with pre-eclampsia that the doctors didn't think he or I were going to make it. He was 3 pounds 2 ounces and was 16 inches long. Zachary means the Lord will Remember and I know that God had his hand on Zachary from the beginning. Although we spent 6 weeks in the NICU he was there because he needed to be able to keep his body temp up and be able to eat. He is now 6 years old and he is doing very well. He is alot smaller than children his age and he had some delayed speech but he is doing fine in kindergarten. His teacher said he is a leader.

My son was born just 3 weeks ago after just 23 weeks of gestation. THings are very critical now and I dont know if he will survive. I can see that he is really beautiful and that he even knows my voice when I talk to him. I dont know how I will get by but they all tell me to be strong and believe he will survive. Thats what I believe now....he will survive

Courtney and Taylor Smith were born on Valentine Day at 26 weeks gestation weighing 1#10oz and 1#13oz. Courtney lost her sight to ROP. Both girls are very involved in Courtney's music career. Courtney has recorded 2 CD's and Taylor is her fan club president and assistant in the studio and is Courtney's Vision. These two 9 year olds given hours to live have done more in 9 years than most people accomplish in a lifetime. We are so proud how the girls have made struggles into accomplishments!
