I had I little girl named Emma at 24 weeks on 8/05/06. She was really little 1 lb 4 oz and 12 1/2 inches long. I went to hospital with bleeding and I started going into labor but they stopped it. They life flighted me to other hospital. I was on bed rest to the next five days and on Sat. the laber started again but this time they couldn't stop it. I had her a 11:27 a.m. I couldn't see her for about 7 hours because of the c-section but my husband got to see her about two hours later. She lose about 4 oz. of night. So she was only one ld. It was really scare her losing that weight. She didn't have that much to start with. She is on a ventilator so she gaining weight slowly but surely. She is now 1 lb and 11 oz. The ventilator has gaving her chronic lung disease. But she needs it to stay alive. She's to little to breath on her own. Once she is off of it her lung have a change of getting better and she will gain weight faster about ounce a day. I also have a other little girl. She is 22 months old. We live about two hours away. So, we can only go up there about two or three times a week. It's hard being away from her. If you have been through or are going through the same thing. Please email me. It would be nice to talk to someone who knows what it is like. I don't know anyone who has had a premiee. The only thing I can say to help anyone is your babys life is in your doctors hands. The doctors really know what they are doing so trust and have faith in your doctors and in your child. They are little fighters. :-)

my little girl was born on 1/18/05. I was 24 weeks along they did a c-section she was one pound 11ounces.we named her kinsey taylor daniels.she was taken off life support 3 days after she was born than she had to have the pda done she was put back on life support. through several months they tried to take her off, but she had strider to bad they kept saying she needed to grow. The doctors kept have the ENT specalist do broncs on her they felt it was a floppy airway, but they need could see one so they did a procedure to widen her airway it was a very hard surgrey they had to paralize her for several days this was very hard on her lungs they kept collapsing it was only suppose take a week to recover, but it took her over a month to recover. the big day came to take her off the ventalator in may 2005. she had a hard time she lasted a week she still had strider to bad,so me and her dad relized there was only one other option, and that was to trach her. kinsey was trached june 18 2005 it was the best thing we did. she started smiling, kicking her feet doing things babys should do. she had the vent tube for 6 months of her life, so she didnt want to eat so they were wanting to do a nissan and g-tube on august 22 they took her down and she coded on them so they brought her back to the nicu. she was fine a couple hours later, so they planned to do just the g-tube later on. On september 26 they did it with a local in a private room in the nicu she did fine.now we are able to plan to go home. they put her on a home vent she adjusted very well. me and my husband were from alamogordo we just bought a home when all of this happened now we need to relocate because kinseys doctors are here we felt that would be in her best interest. we found a apartment in albuqurque until we had our house built in albuqurque. we go to take kinsey home nov 1 2005 finally after 10 long months. she is growing and doing well she turned 1yr 1/18/05 we still have our ups and downs. we syarted trach collors in august. shes trying to walk she is vey smart, very independent. watching her do what she does ia amazing. he is our angel

I would just like to share my son's accomplishments with everyone. My son, Jonathon, was born at 28wks weighing 13oz (374g) in 1992.
Jonathon has just competed in a dance eisteddfod on the Gold Coast where he got one 1st place, one 2nd place, two 3rd places and a few Highly Commendeds. Not bad for a prem who was only given a 5% chance of surviving. Jonathon is also very talented with drumming and singing and loves performing in the theatre.
