I was 32 weeks along when my story begins. I'd already experienced two vaginal births, no complications. Two 7 lb. babies, came home after 2 days stay in the hospital. This time would be different. Everything was going along fine, nothing out of the ordinary. I started to bleed Memorial day weekend, right after returning home from a bbq. Called my doctor (she was away) and went to the ER. I was admitted and taken to "labor and delivery", I cried because I knew it was too early, I was afraid. The Dr. on call came in and said "lets just check you" and as soon as she went to look, SPLASH, blood was everywhere! My pressure was so high they were afraid I might start having seizures!!! I'd had low pressure all my life and my pressure had been fine during my pregnancy up until this point. Well, after an emergency c section, out came little Joseph, 4lbs 6oz. He's still in the NICU and has finally started gaining some of his weight back, he had dropped almost a pound after his birth! He's back up to 3 lbs 13oz. He's 16 inches long. He's still there though and it breaks my heart. He's off all IV's and the CPAP. The only thing he has now is a feeding tube (every third feeding is by tube at this point) and they're keeping his body temp regulated. They say they dont want him wasting calories working to keep his body warm. Its a whole new world. So different from the "regular" births of my other two children. Its so hard to split my time between my kids at home who need me and my sweet baby in the NICU. He has the nurses to care for him and I know he needs to be there right now but....I need him, I need to be near him as much as possible, I need to feel that I'm not helpless when it comes to my little boy. My friends are throwing me a baby shower today. My emotions are so mixed. This is the hardest thing I've ever gone through. I know my little angel is worth it though, I cant wait for him to come home.

Our daughter Tehya was born at 28 weeks gestation. She was diagnosed with PVL and we were told that she would have CP but that they didn't know how severe it would be. The Dr's even mentioned that she may not be able to walk. It was such a difficult time that first year. We spent 60 days in the hospital and they were such long hard days with many tears spent crying at her bedside and wishing for the time when I could take her home to love her in private. Now 2 years have passed and she is amazing. She is walking talking and shows no signs of CP. She is my miracle and my angel all wrapped up in one little human. Love your babies with all of your hearts....they are truly gifts from above!
