Our son was a premie and said because of his low birth weight he would has many functional problems. That is so far from the truth. He is so very very smart and very fully developed now. Don't believe half of what you read.

My Daughter was born July 27,2005 weighing 1 pound 14 ounces. She was 30 weeks gestation. She has spent a total of 4 months in the hospital at first and underwent 2 surgies and was on the vent for a majority of her life. She has gone back to the hospital 2 different times since she came home. She is now 7 1/2 months old and she still has a long way to go. I would appreciate some help to understand why this happening and would love to hear from all parents that have gone through this to help me.

My daughter was born April 19, 2006 after 9 and a half hours of labor. She was 31 weeks gestation. She was 3 lbs 15 oz., which I hear was big for being 31 weeks. She is doing great right now. As the NICU puts it she is just a grower, meaning that all she needs to do is grow and learn to eat without the tube in her nose. I can't wait to bring her home.

My little baby was born on December 31,2005 at 23 weeks gestation. The doctors tried so hard to convince us to just let him die when he was born, and told us that he would have CP, be blind, deaf and never walk and possibly die that day. But my husband and I wanted to try everything and today he is now 10weeks old or 33weeks gestation and he has had no real problems, his eyes were tested and are growing appropriately with no ROP, he gets his ears tested next week. He is on CPAP only for the pressure, he doesn't really have any oxygen going in though! He will hopefully be coming home in about 1 mth! The doctors all keep commenting on how well he is doing and how they have never seen a 23 weeker like him!
