Dear Dianne,
I am a mother of a micro-premie that was just born July 11th, 2005. My husband and I reside in Durango, Colorado and I was life flighted to University Hopsital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thank God my parents live and work here, not to mention my mother is an administrator for the internal medicine department at UNM. My baby is a 24 weeker and was only 1lb. 1OZ. at birth, a result of hellps syndrome. I have found this web-site, and am touring through it to gain as much insight as possible. We have been on the emotional roller coaster ride by almost loosing her three times in three weeks. This is a living hell to go through and I would never wish this emotional torment on anyone. We are hanging in there and my daughters name is also Mackenzie - what a coincidence. All families are in my thoughts and prayers who have to be put through this hell. Everyday I thank my lucky stars to have spent one more day with her and am trying to keep clear about the life's lessons that are being taught right now. Keeping the hope alive. Also please keep the stories coming from those that have had survivors - it is joyful that families are reunited after surviving the NICU. - Shannon

My Premature baby was born on June 25, 1997. I had just turned 24 weeks pregnant. I was so afraid but yet so happy to know she was alive. She wore 627gms. My miracle came home out of the hospital on October 3, 1998. If not every week every other week after that she was back in the hospital. Through all of the therapy, the hospital stays, and the blessed prayers my wonderful miracle is now 8 years old. She is beautiful, smart, and doing great.

After trying for a baby for 3 1/2 yrs. If finally happened, my due date was Dec.12 '04, I went in the hospital at 25 weeks, the doctors tried everything to hold off delivery. I was on bed rest on mag sulfate for 3 wks finally my placenta abrupted causing an emergency c-section my baby was drowing and was in critical condition for several hours. She came at 28 wks 5 days. She spent 5 weeks in the NICU, it was the hardest thing to go through. I named her Faith it's what it took to get her here and, it took Faith to know she would come home. She wheezes some and is 10 mo now and weighs 19 pnds. She loves life and truely is a miracle. I love to talk to people that has been where I have been. Feel free to contact me.
