I had my some on Feb 8th 2005 at 32 wks
He spent 29 days in the hospital. I
brought him home with a heart monitor,
he still has the low heart beats
occasionally and is on caffeine for it
and zantac for the reflux, but weight and height wise is doing great, and so
far I cant see any developmental delays, just wanted to say good luck and god bless anyone going through this, THIS BABIES ARE TRULY BLESSINGS
NEVER THOUGHT I COULD WATCH A BABY GO
THROUGH THIS UNTIL I HAD MINE. I had 3
children before him all full term. This was definetely a scary time for me
and still is.

Congratulations on a wonderful website. My daughter Gabrielle was born 13 weeks premature weighing 465g in April 2000. She is now a healthy happy 5 year old although still extremely pettite. It's wonderful to read other people stories and to know there are others out there who have been through what we are going through now and survived.
Regards
Rosemarie

Hi everyone. My name is Erin and I am 22 years old. I was born 11/23/82 at 30 wks. gestation weighing 2#2oz., and was 10 1/4" long. I had some of the common premie problems as well as a somewhat "uncommon"(yet, common, depending on how you look at it) problem: As & Bs, severe jaundice requiring exchange transfusions, seizures(just during first two weeks), Grade III IVH and subsequently developed PHH(Post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus), etc. I was initially shunted at 5 wks., and 2 days old and had ten surgeries during the first 7 years of my life. I managed to go EIGHT weeks and TWO days shy of FIFTEEN years before needing a shunt revision(*brand new* shunt) April 20th. I then had another surgery on May 10th to have a left ICP monitor placed as well as the 14y/o shunt's ventricular catheter removed. I am a nursing student(just got back into the program for the fall semester) and had ALWAYS dreamed of(and intended on) doing Level III NICU nursing(staff nursing and then subsequently NNP), and I had also thought of dual degreeing as a NNP *and* PNP b/c I also spent time in the PICU due to the neurosurgeries. However, due to my recent hospitalizations/experiences, I feel that neuroscience(neurology/neurosurgery) nursing is what I am interested in. Heck, I dunno...I'm still thinking about it all. LOL. Anyway, that's *my* story! Feel free to e-mail me/ask any questions!
