I remember hearing Bishop Kalistos Ware saying once "why wouldn't animals be in Heaven, they were in Paradise!!" Your site is such a blessing. Is there a reason though that you keep your identity secret? I'm sure I'm not the only Orthodox Christian who is curious as to who you are! This information that you have gathered needs to be available to the masses. You need to be on Facebook!!

Thank you for this site! I am Orthodox and very
curious about the Church's stance on animals and
pets. Any pet owner knows that these creatures
(especially dogs) are model Christians, in a way--
pure, innocent, infinitely forgiving, infinitely loving,
non-judgmental. It makes a lot of sense that they
are sinless and come from God, and will be with
God in the end. Thank you, and I look forward to
reading more of your site! God Bless.

I lost my beloved dog Truman to renal
failure on January 4, 2010. It was very
sudden and all attempts to save him and
sustain any quality of life for him had
failed. His pain was too much for him
to bear and so I made that difficult but
merciful decision. He died in my arms
and I held him afterwards until I knew
it was time to let go. My grief is
unbearable. For the 11 years that our
lives were intertwined I prayed every
morning and asked Truman to pray with
me. We thanked Jesus for another day
and asked God have mercy on the world.
I spoke to Truman often of Jesus as he
had many friends who had departed this
world before him and I always told him
that one day he would see Jesus too.
Your website is the best I have found on
dealing with my loss. I am aware of the
grieving process as I have lost both
human and animal kin alike. But my
belief that our animal companions also
have souls and have a place in heaven is
difficult to find any information on.
When I looked into Truman's eyes I knew
that he was a gift from God, created
from God and would one day return to
God. When his final days drew near and
I held him close and told him how much I
loved him and thanked him for the joy
that he had brought to my life, I also
told him that I hoped I had brought some
joy to his. It was he who kissed my
face to take away my tears. It was he
who put his paw on my leg and said with
those eyes...I am ready to go. Thank
you so much for helping me this day. It
has been 25 days now and I can only
wonder when the pain will end for me.

I like what I see. It has always bothered me that animals serve us, yet we are told they don't go to heaven. I guess that's why I liked All Dogs Go to Heaven. Not sure where he quotes if from, but Andrew always says that Jesus will redeem all of creation.
