Shihan Echavarria, I am a student of Shihan Medina. I know of his promotion to Shihan in NY in front of a panel of martial artists including Shinan Perierra. All of this was prior to Shinan Perierra's passing. It did not have to come from a Dai Shihan. Bob Brogdon BB#365
