I studied at East Treamont School in the early eighties under Master Oliver Lee who was under the Direction of Shihan Pereira. The school was one of the best around at the time, and produced many champions and master alike. I'm happy to have been a past student of the East treamont School and gratefull for the many lessons I learned. Today I have a full time school and teach Taekwondo, Hapkido and Jujitsu. The spirit of Shihan Pereira lives on......

I grew up on Crotona Avenue, a stone's throw away from Tremont Avenue Where Sensei Pereira's dojo was located. In 1962, when I was 8 years old, I began studying Judo at the Tremont School. It was one of the three significant formative experiences of my life. Sensei Pereira took a fat little boy who was constantly picked on and turned him into a State and National level competitor and Shodan by age 18. I go back to the days at Tremont when we still did randori on a reconstituted boring ring mat without the ropes on the third floor. we were a tough bunch of little misfits, and Sensei turned us into men. Recently, my dad passed away and I turned 50. I was feeling kind of nostalgic and began to search for sites that dealt with significant people from my past. After my father, Sensei Pereira ws next on the list. I did a search and found your site and have to just tell you that I am very happy that the memory of this very important man lives on in people like you. Thank you.
Good fortune always--
