I spent many summers at my grandparents home in Bakersville. They are both deceased now but the fond memories linger on. I felt safe there. It was quiet and serene and I am hoping to go back there someday and see it again. If anyone has any information on my relatives, with the last name of Fortner please respond and let me know.My grandfathers name was Claude and grandmothers name was Emma. Loved the site anyway and hoping to hear from some of you.

I'm still looking for information on my ancestors who lived in and near Bakersville in the1830s-John Vance Buchanan b. 1807 , Delpha Davis b. 1807, Temperance Vance b. 1785, Arthur Buchanan b. 1776, and a John Vance b. pre 1765 who may be buried at the foot of Yellow Mountain.
