I have friends and family in Bakersville and Spruce Pine. My grandmother Lura Ward was raised up on Cain Creek. Her brother was Jeff Ward. Visiting this web site once again after being away for awhile, it was very nice having another opportunity to rekindle some of the good memories of years gone by. A nice honor I have been blessed with during the past few years has been the opportunity to perform as a singer in the Charlotte Philharmonic, and thoughts of Bakersville and Roan Mountain, in particular, always help get me in the holiday spirit, especially for those upcoming performances at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville on December 8th. Not only is it an honor being able to perform at nice venues like Biltmore, for example, but it is also equally great being able to draw beautiful and much-needed inspiration from such a lovely part of North Carolina. I still remember the remarkably stunning beauty of the Creek Walk I was so fortunate to be able to witness during an early December night last year, and it was truly a magnificent sight I will never forget for as long as I live. May Mitchell County always retain its beauty and simple qualities that help make the area so wonderfully attractive and charming. Your work on this web site continues to be very impressive, and Bakersville is so blessed to have such talented people to help promote both the town and picturesque surrounding area.
