My name is Curtis and I am a C6 quadriplegic living in Spruce Pine. I was injured over 18 years ago in a automobile accident while serving in the military. I've been paralyzed every since then. I've experienced some very difficult things in life but I can truly say that I have been greatly blessed. I've learned a lot about myself going through this situation and because of it I'm a better man.
Two friends and myself have created a web site dealing with disability issues. On the web site we have shared much about ourselves and we want to hear from others who are living with disabilities. We also want to hear from family members who are living with loved ones who is disabled. The web site is much like the web site that you are on now where you can register and post your messages. We want you to share your story of how you become disabled and some of the struggles that you live with. There is absolutely no advertising and registration is free to all.
We are three gentlemen who want to learn from you and pass on the experience and wisdom that we have incurred by living with our disabilities. Very interesting site. I surfed in looking to learn more about the area my GREEN, BUCHANAN, MCKINNEY and LEDFORD ancestors lived in back in the 1790's and the 1800's.
In 1824 my 3rd gr grandfather Aaron Green owned 200 acres on "both sides of Snow Creek beginning on the West side of the creek, adjacent to Cane Creek Mountain" and I was trying to pinpoint that land. I am trying to figure out what the closest town was to that piece of property and your website has provided me with the best general sense of the area that I have seen in 5 years of researh. This is much more informative than the Mitchell Co. GenWeb genealogy site. Thank you very much for the visual of the area. Very helpful - and I will be back to learn more.
