Hi!
I just stopped by to read the history of Bakersville, NC and found a relative named in the narrative. Imagine that! I am the GGGGgrandson of John Gouge, who came to this area in the late 1790s. My Gandfather was Roy Gouge, who was the last of my line to be born in Bakersville. His father was Harrison Gouge and his father was Edmund Gouge. It's nice to see that Bakersville is doing so well! I must get there one day!

I lived in Bakersville in the early 1950s, worked with my Dad at the L H Wiebel Company mill in the town--I had a C&W music show on the BBC in Scotland for 15 years, called myself "Carolina Buddy"and have adopted Bakersville as "home" and still hang onto that aoption--was wont to "live" at the Rhododendron Cafe until I think Ross Green was about to give up in dispair--would be glad to cha with anyone remembers me------

I was born and raised in Mitchell County. I attended Glen Ayre Elementary and Bowman High School. I enjoy the articles on the local attractions. I have many relatives in the area. I would like to hear from anyone who might remember me. I left Bakersville in the 1950's, but still call it home.

I was born in bakersville in 1940. Left the area in 1958. Have been back for several visits, but have lost track of the folks I grew up with. It would be nice to hear from some of the folks I went to school with.
