I note various "messages" from Charley the Chaffinch which some people with a reasonable degree of logic ascribe to a member of Ellerslie CC. I am a sponsor and vice-president of ECC, and I want, on behalf of 99% of the members of the club, to apologise and disassociate ourselves from this offensive nonsense.
Next Saturday is an important game for us. We want it to be hard and fair, and the best side to prevail.
ECC is, we believe, a good cricket CLUB, like your own. Rubbish like this will hurt us far more than it will hurt you.

Well then lads not long now to the big showdown on saturday. ive been waiting for this moment for a while now and i cant wait. have you got any team news that may worry us is your 2nd xi turning out again or will u only say that after you have had a good hiding. will the old 1a boys be making returns and is your yorkshire pro turning out this week? I bit of friendly advice our track is rock hard and very bouncy so i suggest you wear a helmet cus u will b sniffing sum leather! The question to ask yourselves is can you stop the champions being crowned on there own park? i doubt it!! make the most of it on saturday because you will never play us again ! (only our seconds or thirds)
