I began looking through old postcards traveling in Florida and visiting various flee markets. I was able to locate some from Hornell NY. I make it a point to look through what vendors have of my local area.

Alan:
As the author of a local history column in the Baldwinsville Messenger (hot-linked above), I truly appreciate your site, and will be back to visit again and again. If I can ever help you with images or information regarding this area, including the towns of Lysander and Van Buren in the northwest corner of Onondaga County, please let me know. I have one quick correction for you. All of the postcards that you have listed under the topic of "Erie Canal" should be under the heading "Barge Canal." The Erie Canal and the Barge Canal were built nearly a century and several miles apart. Specifically, the Erie Canal, a man-made ditch completed circa 1825, traversed where the NYS Thruway passes today, and used only human and animal labor. The Barge Canal System was built in the early 20th century, using natural lakes and rivers where possible, and steam shovels and other mechanized construction equipment where not. Thanks, and take care.
Steve

Dear Alan: I have a question about your postcard of the Central Park Casino. I am writing a history of New York restaurants, and this card caught my eye as something that might be a good illustration and I wonder if there is a way that the publisher could arrange to use the image? Thanks William Grimes
