The people that only see the children once or twice a year and who license the homes have poor perception of defining foster parents. They aren't dealing with paper, the are dealing with human beings and they are dealing with children that have been in a system and knows exactly what buttons to push and when to push them. Also the children have good coaches their parents and the very people that are suppose to be looking out for them who really know very little about them except they have a file.

I obviously found your website and cried as I read - It's disgusting how foster parents are treated - We experienced the same "you're guilty until proved innocent" and are actually still being treated as guilty even though the allegations were unsubstantiated in March 2000. We haven't received any new placements - had to fight like hell to get our 3 yr.old back...They also wouldn't let us see her during the ordeal - I would like to add our story if you could provide instructions on how to do so. Your notes remind me on mine - I documented every single phone call..Four pages worth and $800 worth of phone calls...We have lost the "right" to get an infant back that is being PCC'd now - I am still angry about that. Also, the damage this has done to my family is beyond a letter stating that the allegations were unsubstantiated.

I hope that you are still doing foster care. A lot of foster kids (including my DFD) are masters and lying and manipulating. I now find it difficult to believe almost any allegation I hear coming from a child, even though some experts used to say that children would never make up stories of abuse. It is so sad how foster parents are treated, although my agency has been wonderful. Good luck to you. Even w/the problems, I still encourage others to foster &/or adopt.
