Fantastic to see the enthusiasm and pride with which this site has been constructed. The Photograph collection is admirable but could be of greater interest to future visitors if there were more and all were dated and captioned. e.g Forestreet 19?? petrol Station. Later was it a Post office ? I believe Now is it is a private House? I dont know but I think this could be the case. Dated photographs and captions help everyone to follow the evolution of the village. Might I suggest that the site includes a detailed map of the village for each decade of the last century. Perhaps details could be added from the memories of those reading the pages. I seem to recall only a few years ago that there was a Hairdressers, Fish and chip Shop,Post Office, Grocery Store,Fruiters and Butchers. They will vanish into the memories of just a few if they are not recorded on a map and by collecting photos. Another thought would be for a page celebrating residents past and present. The first that comes to mind is the forthcoming centenary of Cyril Dumbleton May I thank you for an interesting virtual visit and wish you continued success withg developig the site

I'm like lots of people on the genealogy trail, from my research I have found that my distant family come from your village. I’m at the 1851 census and I’m stuck with Thomas Friend who comes from Dolton. At the time of the census he was working for the Brimsmead Family in St Giles in the Wood as a machine maker, in going through your web site I have found a considerable number of “Friends”. Can any one assist with who his parents were? Thomas in 1871 was the working in Kingscott as a Machinist. Many thanks for any assistance.

My Hoopers lived in Dolton for many generations before coming to Canada via Sheepwash and Buckland Filleigh. I loved the website and hope to visit Dolton in the near future (and maybe find some long lost relatives).
