My G grandfather was WILLIAM DYMOND and was born in Dolton in 1852. He married BESSIE RUSSELL who was related to the REV JACK RUSSELL, the dog breeder. They lived in Dolton after the marriage and their children were LAURA ( my grandmother) FRANCES, CATHERINE and maybe ERNEST. My G grandmothers family, i think, were in business with a family named Shapland or a name similar. After she married they lived in ROSE COTTAGE which might have been situated on a farm in Dolton as i think my G Grandfather was an agricultural labourer. Maybe somebody recognizes this family.

I'm planning on visiting Dolton soon. My mother (June Byrne ~ nee Fleet) hooked up with her highschool pen pal via the internet and they're residing in the Dolton area. I was fortunate to meet their daughter (Jan) and her husband (Pete Pearson) who currently live on Fore Street in Dolton. They've been this side of the pond twice...now it's my turn to travel. Awesome website. I can't wait to see it in person...hopefully this summer 2007.

Excellent infornmation. My grandparents (Rose and Len Martin) and my father and Aunt(John and Hazel Martin) were all born and raised in Dolton so it holds special memories for me having visited it many times as a child.
Absolutely fascinated to see pictures of them all here.
Grandparents lived in London House (when they ran it as a local shop) and then moved to Tremont before retiring to a bungalow on the village outskirts.
I still visit Dolton from time to time, for old times sake and as my grandparents are buried in the St Edmunds church cemetery.
Thanks for the brilliant web site.

Just spent a day in Dolton (16th) visiting my brother Terry Knight. Place is as nice as always. Surprised at all the extra houses, but if it keeps Dolton alive then all for the good.
