We live in Dolton and work in Cornwall managing a Dogs rescue and rehoming centre. I love Dolton. It is and always will be the best village in Devon and the rest of the south west. You may know us better as the people with four German Shepherds. Hope its not quite as wet in Dolton as it is in Cornwall today. Pam and Terry.

We are coming on holiday to Dolton in Aug, could anyone tell me what churches there are in the village and if one of them is RC? I could not find any info on churches on your otherwise excellent web site.

What a find this site is.
I spent holidays with my mother's cousins in Dolton and Dowland in my youth and have always retained an affection for the village.
Holidays were spent with Freda Lock at Cleeve Farm and Dartmoor Cottage at Upcott with Dot and Erwin Piper who are remembered in James Ravilious's An English Eye and The Heart of the Country.
When visiting would also call on Frank and Vi Palmer at Hawkdown Farm.
My mother, Vi Foster, is still living in Exeter together with Dad Maurice Foster, but I have moved eastwards.
Will be returning to the site to see what updates have been posted.

My earliest record of being connected to Dolton is the birth of my great , great grandfatherRobert Scott junior, born in 1771,his son William [born 1795] married Jane Heard from the village. Their daughter Jane Scott was my grandmother. Are there any Scotts or Heards still living in the village?

I had been on this site before, as my husband's Folland ancestors came from Dolton. Now I have discovered that his Piper and Cudmore ancestors lived in Dolton as well!
