Matt's done the game show world mighty
proud with this site. As someone who clearly remembers where he was when hearing of Bill's death, there's a clear reason
this is the top link on my Original
Game $how Page.
We all want to be like Bill when we grow up.
Only Bill could take horrible shows like "Winning Streak" and "Blankety Blanks" and turn them into beloved classics. When Bill got a good format, it was absolute magic. Thanks again,
Bill - and Matt and Fred, also.

Bill Cullen was a class act. Is it any wonder that the producers of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" had him on their short list of potential hosts? In today's flashy, glitzy world of television, his laid-back manner is sorely missed.

I only got to see Bill perform first-run on the 1885-1986 run of "The Joker's Wild" and "Hot Potato," but thanks to Game Show Network, I have seen much more from one of the all-time great personalities of game shows; nay, television all encompassing.
Bill was able to make a bad format watchable, if only to see him at work was something to behold. He also made a great format spectacular, like the weekly extravaganza of "The Price is Right," or the strategy-knowledge hybrid "Blockbusters." His quick wit allowed him to drop a funny comment at any time, his articulateness came through from behind the podium, where rarely a mistake was made, and he always seemed to be having a good time, and rooting for the contestants to win, which he reiterated time and again at Blockbusters' Gold Rush bonus.
Bill was also a genius on the other side. Woe to the opposing team of Bill on Password Plus, or $25,000 Pyramid. He was also a great guesser on To Tell the Truth, and I've Got a Secret.
I am glad to be able to see some of the great work of a great man in all aspects, and I am sure that most other game show fans agree with me in saluting Bill as the greatest of all time, a mark that will not be overtaken in a long while.

one of the reasons that i liked ive got a secret is that on this show you could really appreciate the true genius of bill cullen....im sure he guessed far more 'SECRETS' than any of the other panelists...and you always knew that he would. but much more than that,mr. cullen always put the contestants at such ease, and as a viewer...well bill was like your ultra-friendly neighbor from down the street...always there to brighten up your otherwise dreary day. i wonder if bill was ever in a bad mood in his whole illustrious life.....i have to doubt it. why cant we all look at life the way bill appeared to..yeah right.anyway this site is a much deservsd tribute to a most talented and wonderful person
